Installing CP/M to the hard disk
--------------------------------
DIAG.COM
On the SoftBox disk, there's a program DIAG.COM that has the Corvus diagnostics. This will do the low-level format.
Choose option 6 ("Update controller code"). This writes the "firmware", which is some code stored on the drive that
the ROM loads on power-up. When prompted for a firmware image, enter "CORVB184.FMT". You'll see a file "CORVB184.CLR"
in the SoftBox disk directory, but you won't see "CORVB184.FMT". This file doesn't actually exist (or may be a CP/M
hidden file, haven't checked that). By entering "CORVB184.FMT" at the prompt, it will cause DIAG.COM to first format
the disk, then try to install the firmware.
If that succeeds, choose option 3 (Read controller code version). That should return version information.
NEWSYS.COM
You need to tell the SoftBox BIOS about the Corvus drive. Run NEWSYS.COM, and select "A" for the source drive. It will
load the existing SoftBox configuration data from that drive.
Choose option "D" (Disk drive assignment). Choose CP/M drive letter(s) for your CP/M drive. Exit back to the menu, and
save your configuration back to the floppy (A:), and execute the new system.
FORMAT.COM
The last step is to format the drive under CP/M. Run FORMAT.COM and use the drive letter(s) you assigned with NEWSYS.COM.
This will write the CP/M filesystem to the drive.
After, you should be able to get a directory on the Corvus ("DIR C:"). You can use PIP to copy files from the floppy to
the Corvus. The command "A:PIP C:=A:DIAG.ASM" will run PIP from drive A:, and copy DIAG.ASM to drive C:.
If you want to boot CP/M from the Corvus:
There must be no IEEE-488 device 8. Put it on device 9 or any other.
Use NEWSYS.COM to create a configuration where the Corvus will be drive A:, and tell it to write the configuration to the Corvus.
In standalone mode (RS-232 terminal), the SoftBox should boot from the Corvus after power on. In PET mode, you'll still need to
load "K" from floppy somehow (e.g. device 9) but then it should boot CP/M from the Corvus.
